10. The drill factory and the glass grind -
former manufacture of rifles and grinding of glass from Nittorps Glassworks
The operations started in the mid 1850s. Its founder was Alexander Johansson from Nittorp. He was generally called the "invoice" or "root". He bought an acre of land from Ingaregården, the town of Nittorp, and built up his rifle factory. The ground piece is commonly called the Slötesvedjan.
The guns from Nittorp were very beautiful and at one point the invoiceist put them out in Stockholm. Other participants at the fair laughed at the farmer and his braces.
- Surely they are green to look at, but it's a whole different thing to shoot with them.
The invoice did not make them the answer guilty. A competition was organized and the nineteen bounties won the best.
In 1873, FD took over. Knocked Josef Nimrod from Backen in Nittorp production at Borrverket. In the event of an accident in connection with the turning of gunpipes, he received the nasal offense. He went to the doctor who at the meeting with his nose stated:
- How do you have noses in Nittorp?
The healing did not succeed. Instead of a nose, Nimrod had only two holes from that day to replace the odor.
The plant was unused for a few years. Then it became full activity again, but with a completely different orientation.
The nearby Nittorp glass mill was concerned with its water-driven abandonment at Hallabäcken. The abrasion often stood still because of water. The eyes fell on the drilling plant and its good water supply. Glass liperite established itself in the old Borrverket. Here it was a grinder until the glass mill was laid down in 1893 and it was worked with both glass and glass. The land here hides many memories from Nittorp's glass history. Where the graveyard hide conceals of all kinds.
The channel clearly used for production is clearly visible in the river.
