Gisslarp - ancient fields from the Bronze Age along the Jälmåleden
North of the Södergården in the village Gisslarp, extends a 400 x 100 m area with ancient fields (abandoned fields), an ancient settlement that has been discovered in several places in southern Västergötland in recent years.
The fields of Gisslarp lie in well-haged fields and are therefore easy to study.
The ancient fields in Gisslarp is a part of a much larger prehistoric farming landscape, the extent of which has yet to be resolved but probably also includes large parts of the fields currently used.
The area consists of about 40 cultivation areas, bounded by lanes, stone rocks and terraces. The other ancient monuments in the area consist of smoke and stone settlements, dating back to the younger Bronze Age and the aging of the Iron Age. It is probable that during this period the fields can be erected, which have since been left unclear for use after hundreds of years.
